The director of development leads the creation and implementation of overall development strategy and specific fundraising plans to maximize the growth of philanthropic support of the Congregation. S/he identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards prospects for major and planned gifts and, both personally and through/with others, establishes relationships with them in order to secure significant contributions; identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards corporate/foundation gifts, sponsorships, grant, and planned giving opportunities; provides general oversight of the development infrastructure, including gift processing, research, records maintenance, information systems, stewardship, and gift acknowledgements; and maintain awareness of current trends in fundraising and philanthropy.
The director of development, along with the director of marketing and communications, administer the Mission Advancement department. Together, they further the mission and vision of the Sisters of Providence by raising awareness of the Sisters of Providence and their ministries and by building philanthropic support for the Congregation. The co-directors are responsible for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive development, marketing and communications programs, including: annual and planned giving, donor relations, grant writing, alumnae(i) relations, marketing, communications, and media and public relations, both internal and external. They are also responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all staff who work in Mission Advancement. The co-directors report directly to the general officer liaison.
The successful candidate will have five years of experience in fundraising or a related field; a proven track record in developing and managing comprehensive fundraising programs that incorporate major and planned gifts, annual giving, capital campaigns, foundations grants, and corporate support; a proven track record in achieving goals; and experience working with Boards and managing events. S/he must be able to travel for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship visits, conferences, and meetings and be able to learn donor database software applications.
